After a Long Ride

Chris Ellery

April 2, 2023

That wild and tough old cowboy,

Winter,

is laid to rest

in a raw wind

in a muddy gash

in an ugly brown field

among bent stalks and a few green weeds

with a tip of the hat

from Spring.
