from the back cover
FEEDING TEXAS is the largest hunger-relief organization in Texas. We work collaboratively with our network of 21 food banks to increase food security, improve health and financial stability, and advocate for hunger solutions. We help Texans experiencing food insecurity access food for today, secure benefits for food for tomorrow, and help change systems to ensure food for a lifetime.
We have strong, formal ties to the state agencies that administer SNAP, Medicaid, Child Nutrition, and federal commodities programs.
We work to educate Texans, engage stakeholders, and persuade decision-makers. Our policy team boasts strong relationships with other statewide organizations and lawmakers across the Texas political spectrum, resulting in concrete state and federal wins for Texans facing hunger.
Texas Poetry Assignment is one of these groups, and this excellent collection of poetry from across the state and beyond reflects one of these beneficial relationships. FEEDING TEXAS is honored to be part of this publication.
