Against Isolation

STEVE WILSON

March 16, 2020

Late afternoon,

at the backyard

feeders, a few

early spring song-

birds gather and

hurry – oaks to

woodpile, from fence

to windowsill –

as if distance

were a belief

traced with their wings,

landscape some thought

motion now by

flight revealed.

STEVE WILSON has published poems in journals and anthologies nationwide.  He is the author of five collections of poetry, the latest entitled The Reaches (2019). He teaches at Texas State University.
