#12: Poetry Exchange

Open and ongoing.

ASSIGNMENT PURPOSE

The purpose of this assignment is to build community and strengthen friendships by asking pairs of poets to exchange poems.

For this assignment, we ask poets to

1. establish a partnership with another poet,

2. exchange single, previously unpublished poems that respond to prompts from Texas Poetry Assignment,

3. respond to each other's poem, indicating how they related to the poem received and what they liked best about its composition,

4. ask one question about the poem or its composition,

5. and then respond in writing to the other poet’s comments in #3 and question in #4.

FORMAL INTERESTS

This written exchange can take place via any means the poets choose.

HOW TO SUBMIT

These poems and exchanges should be formatted in Microsoft Word document format and presented in Times New Roman, 12 point font. They should be attached to an email to editor@texaspoetryassignment.org and include within the body of the email a brief cover letter and a 50-word biography of each poet.

ACCEPTANCE AND PUBLICATION

This call will remain open indefinitely. The poems and exchanges will be published as they are accepted. The poems will be published in the corresponding assignment page, and the exchanges, with links to these poems, will be published under this assignment.

PUBLICATION RIGHTS

Writers will retain all rights to their work published on this site.
